The Avian Biology and Conservation Lab is located in the Instituto de Zoología y Ecología Tropical (IZET) at the Universidad Central de Venezuela. Our main research areas are:
Our volunteers
Between 2017-2019, we recognized volunteers' contributions to the project on a monthly basis ("Conoteros del mes"). Thanks to their hard work, we confirmed new urban colonies and compiled new information about the biology of Crested Oropendolas!

With the help of our volunteers, we have discovered a unique aspect about Caracas, the place with the largest number of recorded oropendola colonies in the World. In this sense, local residents have come to appreciate these fantastic birds as well as the urban biodiversity of the city.
